Engine House No. 16 was built in 1889 and featured two large front bays that opened for horse-drawn fire engines. The city of Pittsburgh used the building as a fire station until the late 1980s; the former basement shower shown here was used as an armory. The building is being renovated as the new home of one of the city's most successful design firms.
